SoCal gas price spike is over
SOUTHLAND – (INT) - Southern California gas prices marched downward by about a penny a day in the last week as imports began arriving to alleviate supply issues that caused a 76-cent spike in less than two weeks, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch.

The retail state average is $3.856 a gallon for regular today, 2.8 cents less than last week.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.221 per gallon, which is 8.1 cents less than last week, 62 cents more than last month, and 17 cents higher than last year.

In San Diego, the average price is $4.163, which is 7.3 cents less than last week.

In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is $4.155, 4 cents lower than last week, 57 cents more than last month, and 12 cents more than last year.

“In just two weeks, Los Angeles wholesale gasoline prices have plunged by 80 cents, which should further encourage gas stations to drop their prices significantly barring any other crisis,” said Auto Club spokesman Jeffrey Spring.
