Sheriff's deputies involved in most deadly shootings
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The Inland Empire’s two largest law enforcement agencies account for most of this year’s fatal officer-involved shootings.

Thirteen people have been killed in confrontations with officers. Deputies with the Riverside and San Bernardino County sheriff’s departments account for eight of the fatal incidents. The remainder involved the San Bernardino, Riverside, Ontario, Fontana and Corona police departments.

The statistics compiled from law enforcement and coroner’s reports did not include crashes stemming from police chases and in-custody deaths.

Meantime, two men killed this month in Moreno Valley and Needles have been identified. They were Anthonie Smith, 25, and Jackie Brand, Jr., 50, of Highland.
