Southland to bake in year's worst heat
SOUTHLAND - (INT) – It’s here and it could become the year’s longest and hottest heat wave. An excessive heat watch has been posted for all of Southern California except the immediate coast through Sunday.

Forecast models have been warning of the impending heat and the dome of high pressure causing it is getting in place.

The summer heat has been manageable in recent weeks. On Wednesday, Riverside had its first, official 100-degree day since June 30th.

But by Saturday, the inland Metro area could bake in 105-110 degree heat. 120 degrees is possible in the Coachella Valley.

The immediate coast and the higher mountain resorts will be the only areas of relief.

There will also be a slight chance of afternoon mountain thunderstorms through this weekend.

The heat will hang tough through Monday and gradually ease during the rest of the next work week.
