Pilot: 'I don't think I'm going to make it'
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – “I don’t think that I am going to make the landing”.

Those were the last words from a Claremont pilot as he desperately tried to reach the Riverside Municipal Airport Sunday. Keith Davis, 52, had radioed the airport that his single-engine Beechcraft had lost power and needed to make an emergency landing.

The plane hit a fence narrowly missing two occupied homes on Adams Street and burst into flames.

A coroner’s report noted that the pilot was killed instantly. Davis was alone at the time.

No one on the ground was hurt.

Davis had been flying over Riverside, but the nature of his flight was not immediately known.
