AK-47 bandit strikes again
CHINO - (INT) - It is believed the AK-47 bandit struck again; this time in Mason City, Iowa.

The unidentified gunman has used an AK-47 assault rifle in his robberies that began in 2012 in the Inland Empire. A Chino police officer was shot and wounded when he confronted the bandit as he exited the California Bank and Trust.

On Tuesday, the Heartland Community Credit Union at 1602 S. Monroe Avenue was robbed.

The suspect was armed with an AK-47 with a high capacity drum magazine. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and left the area in a 2007-2009 model black or dark-colored Toyota Camry LE.

Since 2012, he has been linked to five bank robberies and one attempt in multiple states using an assault rifle.

Chino police have connected the thief to hold-ups in California, Washington, Idaho and Nebraska.

A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
