SB firefighters back disbanding opponent
SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) – There’s been some initial fallout to the City Council’s decision to disband the 137-year-old fire department.

Councilman John Valdivia, one of three Council members who voted against turning over fire protection to the San Bernardino County Fire District, has won the endorsement of the San Bernardino City Professional Firefighters Local 891.

Valdivia is seeking re-election in November.

“No one on the Council has fought harder to protect the safety of residents and to shine the light of public transparency on the financial mismanagement at City Hall,” said Firefighters President Jeff English.

The firefighters union also called for the election of West Side Community Leader Bessine Littlefield Richard in the 6th Ward. Incumbent Rikke Van Johnson is not seeking re-election.
