Some fret over state of local economy
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Local purchasing managers are a bit more polarized about the state of the economy for the coming fourth quarter of the year.

While 26 percent of those surveyed believe the economy will improve, 32 percent think it will become worse. The balance see little change one way or the other.

The Purchasing Manager’s Index issued Tuesday decreased sharply in August reversing 10 months of slow, but steady growth.

The Institute of Applied Research at Cal State San Bernardino said “Production and New Orders, arguably two of the most important indicators comprising the PMI, both declined. Perhaps more disappointing, the Employment Index declined after six positive months.”

The overall decline could be of concern if it continues for two more months, the Institute said.
