Dangerous highway gets upgrades
CAJON PASS – (INT) – One of the Inland Empire’s most dangerous stretch of highways is getting some upgrades.

Route 138 is being widened to four lanes with a 14 foot median buffer from Phelan Road to Interstate 15. Turn pockets will be installed at selected intersections, shoulders upgraded to current standards, drainages extended and two wildlife crossings built.

The $52 million project will be completed in December 2016.

Route 138 has been the scene of many deadly head-on crashes.
