Smog year shows little improvement
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – It comes as no surprise that the Inland Empire’s Metro area suffered through the Southland’s worst air quality this summer.

San Bernardino and Redlands were the second and third most-polluted. San Bernardino recorded 58 days that exceeded the federal 8-hour standard for ozone. That compared to 49 days last year. Redlands had 54 days.

The mountain resort of Crestline still ranks number 1 with 66 days this year. Crestline also had Southern California’s single worst day with a peak 1-hour concentration of 144 parts per billion.

There were 81 days this year that federal standards were exceeded at all locations within the South Coast Air Basin. It was the third consecutive year of fewer than 100 days.
