Husband convicted in slaying of off-duty police wife FRENCH VALLEY – (INT) – A Murrieta man is facing a 49-year-to-life prison sentence for killing his wife, an off-duty policewoman, at her home last year.
A Riverside County Superior Court jury convicted Freddy Perez-Rodas Wednesday of 2nd degree murder and arson. Perez-Rodas, 28, had earlier admitted killing Laura Perez during a domestic quarrel, taking her body to a Moreno Valley storage locker and then setting her home on fire to cover-up the slaying. She was a rookie officer with the Escondido police department. The couple had a 4-year-old child who was not harmed. Perez-Rodas will be sentenced December 4th. Story Date: October 10, 2015
