El Nino chances pegged at 95% this winter
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – A monthly update shows a 95 percent chance of a strong El Nino peaking in December and January.

The Climate Prediction Center found that the atmosphere is ‘well coupled’ with the Pacific Ocean for an onset of conditions that could bring above-normal rainfall to Southern California this winter.

The outlook issued Thursday suggests El Nino conditions throughout the Northern Hemisphere gradually weakening through spring.

Nationwide, the El Nino outlook calls for above-normal rainfall across the southern tier of states and below-normal precipitation with above-normal temperatures in the northern half of the country.
