New investigations of '91 Project' incident
CORONA – (INT) – Last weekend’s bridge construction accident is taking on heightened concern.

Three individual investigations are now underway to not only determine why temporary supports collapsed as a bridge deck was being lowered into place, but to see if changes in the construction process are necessary.

The ’91 Project’ calls for seven bridges to be built. Five others are still to come using the same construction method. Construction not involving the bridge-jacking process has resumed. New lanes on the 91 freeway may open in 2017.

Meantime, seven of the nine construction workers injured in the mishap on East Grand Boulevard remain hospitalized. One is reportedly fighting for his life.
