Climate change: On a clear day you can't see forever RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Another aspect of climate change could be a detriment to visibility.
Dust and sea salt could combine with natural aerosols, like sulfate, black carbon and primary organic matter, to create haze that will have its own consequences. Climatologist Robert Allen at UC Riverside says that mixture will impact the environment by affecting air quality and alter the Earth’s radiative balance by either scattering or absorbing sunlight. Allen says “Stricter reductions in aerosol emissions will be necessary for attaining a desired level of air quality through the 21st century.” Allen authored a study that appears in Nature Climate Change.
