More passengers putting Ontario airport on the launch pad
ONTARIO – (INT) – Passenger volume at Ontario International Airport is taking off.

The final numbers for October show the 5.6 percent gain was the best year-over-year improvement since before the Great Recession. More than 380,000 passengers used the airport during October.

International passengers flying to destinations in Mexico have led the increase this year. AeroMexico and Volaris reported a combined 17.71% increase over October 2014.

The tonnage of air cargo at the Ontario terminal rose 10 percent.

“The outlook for the last two months of the year is good, and we expect to end the year in positive territory,” predicted airport manager Jess Romo.

Local officials echoed the outlook for 2016 with the Great Recession in the rear view mirror and Los Angeles World Airways returning control of the airport to Ontario.
