October began lower tolls on Route 91 Express Lanes
CORONA--Commuters using the Route 91 Express Lanes are getting a break.
Beginning Wednesday, tolls dropped by 50-cents during several time periods. The peak toll of $10 goes down to $9.50 to travel the freeway through Santa Ana Canyon.

Tolls are based on demand.

The Orange County Transportation Authority which purchased the toll road five-years ago has collected $39.6 million in revenue, far surpassing original projections.

The OCTA says traffic volumes are down because of fewer jobs and the struggling economy in Orange County.
