Lotto forfeiture could be the biggest in state history CHATSWWORTH - Time is up.
A California lottery winner could lose a $63 million dollar prize because they didn't turn in a verified winning ticket by 5pm Thursday. The winning ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in Chatsworth for the Aug. 8, 2015, draw, according to the California Lottery. Winners have 180 days from the time the winning ticket is drawn to claim their winnings, but the months have passed by and no one has claimed the August prize. The money will be given to California public schools, according to a California Lottery statement. It could be the biggest forfeiture in California lottery history. Story Date: February 8, 2016
