Seniors celebrate years later
SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) – Now that the high school exit exam is no longer required for graduation, seniors who failed are still getting their diplomas, some several years later.

The CAHSEE was intended as a graduation requirement for the class of 2004. It lasted for 10-years. Due to controversy denying the graduation of students who failed, Governor Jerry Brown signed bill that suspended the exam and no longer is required for a diploma.

There are 1,160 students in the San Bernardino City Unified School District who have begun picking up their diplomas. Although they failed the CAHSEE but met all other graduation requirements, they have reason to celebrate.

Those needing copies of their transcripts may begin requesting the documents from the Student Records department.
