Super Bowl means 'party, hearty' responsibly
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) - Super Bowl is America’s most watched national sporting event. And on Sunday, there will be lots of Super Bowl 50 socializing and partying.

Police agencies throughout the Inland Empire will deploy additional officers on special DUI saturation patrols.

Weekend DUI crashes in California killed 882 people, according to the most recent annual statistics.

The numbers also found that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving than did for alcohol. Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent.

Super Bowl Sunday drinking and driving crashes in California are greater – about 75 percent greater than on other comparable Sundays in January and February, according to a 10-year analysis of fatal and injury crashes conducted by the Automobile Club of Southern California.

For those who plan to drink on Superbowl Sunday, leave your keys at home. Designate a sober driver.
