Fatal hit-run accidents becoming epidemic SOUTHLAND – (INT) – An epidemic of deadly hit-run traffic mishaps is spreading.
In the latest incident, a pedestrian was killed in the downtown area of Jurupa Valley early Monday. Riverside County sheriff’s investigators said the victim was crossing Pacific Avenue at Mission Boulevard. The driver fled without stopping to render aid. The burgundy-colored, four-door sedan sped off into the night Neither it nor the driver were found. Had the incident not been the driver’s fault, no charges would have been filed. But, leaving the scene of a fatal traffic mishap is still considered a hit-run felony. In Chino, the California Highway Patrol is trying to account for all the vehicles that may have struck a pedestrian early Monday on the Pomona Freeway.
