School part of neighborhood evacuation, bomb threat cleared
CORONA – (INT) – A bomb threat and a man unconscious in a van put a neighborhood on edge Tuesday.

A note attached to the van prompted an evacuation of a square block area and included Parkridge Elementary School, the Amberlite Mobile Home Park, and Partridge Meadows Apartments.

Seven hundred fifty students and 80 staff members from Parkridge Elementary were evacuated to Norco High School.

The van had been parked behind a vacant commercial building in the 800 block of North Main Street.

Later Tuesday evening, police confirmed that the man was dead and the contents of the van did not contain explosives.

An autopsy is planned to determine what happened to Sami Malas, 47, of Corona. Suicide is suspected.
