Climate change bill includes Salton Sea restoration
WASHINGTON – (INT) – Senator Barbara Boxer says her Water Resources Development Act of 2016 would help restore the Salton Sea, provide critical habitat and improve serious air quality issues affecting public health.

Boxer’s bill could revitalize the Los Angeles River along an 11-mile segment to ensure the opportunity for increased economic and recreational development. Specifically, the $1.3 billion project would remove concrete from the river and restore hundreds of acres of habitat and wetlands.

Beyond Southern California, the legislation could provide important flood protection, restore vulnerable ecosystems, and maintain ports and navigation routes across California.
