Ex-officers acquitted in parolee's alleged beating
BANNING – (INT) – A Superior Court jury has acquitted two former Indio police officers of allegedly using excessive force during an arrest in 2014.

Charles Holloway was accused of a felony and Gerardo Martinez of being a misdemeanor accessory.

The criminal case stemmed from the alleged beating of a parolee during his arrest.

When a citizen’s video of the incident surfaced, Police Chief Richard Twiss asked the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department to investigate. Arrest warrants for both officers were issued and the District Attorney filed charges.

The trial of Holloway and Martinez ended Monday when both men were found not guilty.

On a related note, Chief Twiss retires on June 8th.
