Holiday travelers aim for record
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Southern Californians on the go for the Memorial Day weekend can expect a lot of company.

Triple-A predicts the largest number of travelers since the all-time record of 3.2 million in the Southland set in 2005.

Eighty-five percent will be on the road taking advantage of gasoline prices a dollar-a-gallon less than a year ago. Those flying to holiday destinations will be up 2.4 percent over the same holiday a year ago.

The Auto Club defines a holiday trip as one at least 50 miles away from home. The Memorial Day holiday travel period is runs from Thursday, May 27th to Monday, May 30th.
The top five destinations for Southern Californians are:
1) Grand Canyon National Park
2) San Diego
3) San Francisco
4) Las Vegas
5) Yosemite National Park
