Poll: Voters list their biggest concerns
SAN FRANCISCO - (INT) - California voters have a lot to think about before casting their ballots in the presidential primary June 7th. A new California Field Poll spotlights the issues uppermost on voter's minds.

Jobs and the economy top the list of the ten biggest issues for most Californians followed by health care, education/public schools, and Social Security.

The poll found big partisan differences on more focused campaign issues. For Democrats, it is climate change, income inequality, college affordability, equal pay for women, ensuring clean air/water, and keeping the U.S. out of war.

Republican voters voiced concerns over reducing the deficit/size of government, the terrorist threat/protecting the homeland, reducing taxes, immigration, Supreme Court appointments, and trade policies among their top ten issues.

The survey also found differing priorities among California's five regions. Voters in both the Inland Empire and the Central Valley are more likely than voters in other
parts of the state to consider the terrorist threat/protecting the homeland, gun laws and reducing the deficit/size of government among their most salient issues in the presidential election. Voters in the Inland Empire are also more likely to cite immigration as a top presidential election issue.

When it comes to the US Senate race, a large 69% to 27% margin of the state's likely voters say they would prefer the candidate who is willing to make compromises to get legislature passed over one who holds true to their beliefs without compromise.
