Holiday: First responders, law enforcement at the ready
INLAND EMPIRE - (INT) - Police and fire agencies say they're at full force for the first big holiday of the season.

Some local freeways will be especially impacted between now and the close of the Memorial Day holiday late Monday.

Caltrans expects lengthy delays on Interstate 15 at various locations from Temecula to the Nevada State Line (especially in the Cajon Pass), Interstate 10 from Beaumont to Indio, Interstate 40 between Barstow and Needles, and heavier than normal delays on State Route’s 91, 60, 215, and 210.

Caltrans anticipates heaviest delays on the I-15 between Rancho Cucamonga and Hesperia and on the I-10 through the Banning Pass.

The California Highway patrol is focused on use of seat belts, distracted drivers and those driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol.

Calfire has stepped up its staffing because of the elevated wild fire danger across many areas of the state.

Warmer weather and gusty winds are likely through Monday. There's even the risk of lightning across the higher elevations of the Sierra.

Those planning outdoor recreation are urged to be extra careful because of the ongoing drought. Already this year Calfire has responded to over 1,100 wildfires that have burned over 10,000 acres.

Another agency, the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), will have agents out enforcing alcoholic beverage laws in communities throughout California.
