Wholesale gas prices spiking
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Gasoline prices are edging closer to $3 a gallon partly because of a refinery issue.

The Automobile Club of Southern California explains that the early summer heat and the closure of the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility has put a squeeze on natural gas supplies which are needed to generate electrical power for air conditioners and refinery equipment.

In Los Angeles, wholesale fuel prices have jumped to their highest level since early January.

In the Inland Empire, the average per-gallon price is seven cents more than last month, but 67 cents less than last year.
