Thousands of pounds of illegal fireworks seized SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – More nightly fireworks are being seen and heard in local neighborhoods as Fourth of July celebrations draw closer.
Law enforcement has mounted its annual offensive against the illegal pyrotechnics. During a 2-day operation throughout Southern California, nearly 13 tons of fireworks were seized much of it in San Bernardino County. $50,000 worth of fireworks were seized at one location, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Department. Fifty-one misdemeanor citations were issued and two felony arrests. The bulk of the fireworks were brought into Southern California from Nevada and Mexico. So-called safe and sane fireworks are legal in some incorporated communities. Story Date: June 28, 2016
