Fourth of July travel may match record
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – The biggest Fourth of July travel weekend in 14 years is looming.

The Automobile Club of Southern California is predicting that over 3-million Southern Californians will be on the move, mostly on roads and freeways. Others are headed to their destinations by air, boat and railroad.

It’s a predicted 1.3 percent increase over last year, matching a Fourth of July record set in 2002.

Statewide, more than 4.9 million are expected to travel over the Independence Day holiday. And, nationally an increase of 1.3 percent is expected because of lower gas prices and lower, average air fares.

According to a survey of AAA Travel agents, the top five destinations for Southern Californians this holiday are:
1) San Diego
2) Las Vegas
3) San Francisco
4) Santa Barbara
5) Yosemite
