Rainfall year challenges El Nino-La Nina comparison
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Another rainfall year is in the books and by all accounts it was a disappointment throughout Southern California.

A much-anticipated El Nino failed to deliver and instead shifted its impact to Northern California.

On the ‘plus’ side for the local region, it was the wettest since 2010-11, a La Nina year, but still short of normal.

Lake Arrowhead more than doubled its precipitation from the previous year. Most valley communities measured a significant increase reaching near double digits except in Southwest Riverside County.

The wet-dry comparison between El Nino and La Nina years was contrary to prevailing opinion.

Rainfall year 2015-16

Riverside 10.04
San Bernardino 12.92
Ontario 9.77
Moreno Valley 11.19
Lake Elsinore 10.10
Hemet 10.91
Corona 9.02
Temecula 8.89
Murrieta 9.70
Lake Arrowhead 27.30
Palm Springs 3.19
