ICE puts the heat on criminal immigrants LOS ANGELES – (INT) –Officials have arrested 112 foreign nationals in the greater Los Angeles area over the last four days during an operation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) targeting at-large criminal aliens.
All have criminal histories. The majority (62) had prior felony convictions for serious or violent offenses, such as child sex crimes, weapons charges, and assault. Among those taken to jail: § A 64-year-old Mexican male arrested in unincorporated Riverside County near Hemet who has a 1996 conviction for attempted murder of a peace officer §A 46-year-old male from Tonga arrested in Rancho Cucamonga who has prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon. While the largest number of those taken into custody are originally from Mexico (89), a total of 11 countries are represented, including four in Central America. Story Date: July 28, 2016
