Eight blazes burn, more fire fighters sent home Over 3,300 firefighters remain on the lines of eight large wildfires in California.
Containment and rehabilitation efforts continue and progress is being made to finish off the fires. A break in the intense late summer heat has allowed firefighters to make some gains against the state's remaining large wildfires. But, summer is not over and some fires continue to burn. Fires of Interest: Saddle Fire, Butte County Pentz Road, south of Paradise • 850 acres brush, 60% contained Rey Fire, Santa Barbara County Los Padres National Forest Paradise Road, north of Santa Barbara • 32,606 acres & 97% contained Soberanes Fire, Monterey County Los Padres National Forest Big Sur area • 102,499 acres & 60% contained Cedar Fire, Kern County Sequoia National Forest Northwest of Lake Isabella, Cedar Creek Campground • 29,322 acres, 98% contained Gap Fire, Siskiyou County Klamath National Forest Seiad Creek Rd, 5 miles northeast of Seiad Valley • 30,969 acres, 65% contained Tule Fire, Tulare County Sequoia National Forest Hwy 190, 4 miles northeast of Springville • 395 acres, 98% contained Mokelumne Fire, Alpine County Stanislaus National Forest Mokelumne River Canyon, north of Frog Lake • 655 acres, 70% contained Phoenix Fire, Nevada County Tahoe National Forest West of Fordyce Lake, near Soda Springs • 38 acres, 75% contained Spring Fire, San Bernardino County San Bernardino County Fire Los Flores Ranch Rd, south of Hesperia • 50 acres, 100% contained Story Date: September 14, 2016
