Forest fire causes elude investigators
CAJON PASS – (INT) – As the flames flicker out, investigators are just starting their work to determine how the Blue Cut Fire started. So far, the cause is undetermined.

The intense fire was reported August 16th at 10:44am and quickly roared through Cajon Pass devouring thousands of acres of heavy dry brush and anything else in its path including 105 homes.

Incident commanders for the Forest Service are appealing to the public for any information about the fire’s origin.

Anyone who may have been in or around the fire’s starting point is urged to share information about people or vehicles they may have seen. The area of concern is southbound Interstate 15 between Cleghorn and Kenwood Roads or along Old Cajon Boulevard through the same area.

Investigators have not said if the fire was man-caused or was suspicious in nature. Information, photos, or video of this area in this time frame, please call 1-800-78CRIME (27463) or on the web at www.wetip.com

Also to be solved is the cause of the Pilot Fire which burned nearby in the San Bernardino National Forest. It started near the Miller Canyon OHV area off Highway 138 near Lake Silverwood. It burned for 9-days and covered 8,110 acres.
