Cal League pares down teams eliminating two ADELANTO – (INT) – Sagging attendance and inadequate stadiums have doomed two of California’s minor league baseball teams.
CalLeague has announced that the Adelanto-based Mavericks and the Bakersfield Blaze are about to play their last games. The Mavericks have been plagued with Adelanto’s attempt to evict the team earlier this season over maintenance costs at the city-owned stadium. The 2017 Class-A League season will open next April with eight teams instead of ten. Story Date: August 25, 2016
