'Loud noises' gridlock LAX after active shooter report
LOS ANGELES - (INT) - 'Loud noises' mistaken for gunfire generated partial closure of Los Angeles International Airport Sunday night.

Authorities were unable to confirm that any shooting took place, airport police said.

"All precautions being taken to ensure safety of public. Remain calm.,” the Los Angeles Airport Police Department tweeted around 9:15 p.m.

The Los Angeles Fire Department also responded to the scene and tweeted that “no significant incident” has been noted.

Earlier, authorities said they had blocked off the entrance to LAX Sunday night due to the police activity.

Photos and videos from the chaotic scene appeared to show the airport being evacuated.

The upper departure level and lower arrival level of the airport’s central terminal have been closed for an unknown amount of time, according to an LAX tweet.

Flights were delayed as traffic stacked up for miles around the airport.
