Winds ratchet up fire season, Calfire prepares
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Calfire is gearing up for the first hot, dry Santa Ana winds of autumn.

Forecasters say the winds will be accompanied by single digit humidity and temperatures well into the 90s to around 105.

Calfire says fuels are extremely dry north of San Diego County where little if any rain occurred. Across San Diego County, winds will be strong on Sunday but recent rains in the mountains will mitigate the fire threat there.

Calfire is bringing in a strike team comprised of five fire trucks to stage in San Bernardino County in readiness for any fire starts.

The Fire Weather watches also cover the mountains and valleys of Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and San Diego counties.
