Burglars ease up, but killers spread violence
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Violence in this former All-American city has been well documented, but new figures suggest that overall crime has actually declined for the first time in two years.

The overall crime index dropped 7 percent the first six months of the year making its first drop since 2014.

Burglaries declined 24 percent while theft was off by more than 10 percent.

Violent crimes, however, were a much more disturbing factor as homicides kept pace with the first-half of last year. Rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults led the 15 percent increase in violent crime.

There were 5,827 reported crimes from January through June.
