Fires traced to homeless encampments
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – No injuries have been reported in the wake of a pair of fires that roared through two homeless encampments at Fairmount Park.

Three alarms were called for the largest of the fires late Monday night. Firefighters had it contained in 30 minutes.

Smoke and burning embers were visible for several miles. Several homes were briefly in danger along Redwood Avenue and the Dexter Drive bike path.

No homeless individuals were present at either fire and no cause has been established for either blaze that destroyed palm trees and low-lying vegetation.
