San Bernardino terror response brings reimbursement
WASHINGTON - (INT) –The Department of Justice has done what Governor Brown wouldn’t.

An additional $500,000 is coming from Washington to help local law enforcement agencies cover the cost of sending first-responders to last December’s terrorist attack in San Bernardino.

Earlier this week, Governor Brown vetoed a bill that would have reimbursed local police agencies for their costs that were incurred when 14 people were slain and 22 others injured in a terrorist shooting at the Inland Regional Center. Brown argued that state reimbursement would have set a precedent in the event of future such incidents.

Riverside County Congressmen Ken Calvert and Pete Aguilar Calvert and the rest of the Inland Empire delegation worked closely with the law enforcement agencies to obtain the federal assistance.

“This grant recognizes the federal obligation to help make local communities whole for responding to a federal responsibility,” Calvert said.
