10.4 million signed-up for GreatShakeout
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – California’s Great ShakeOut Thursday may have carried more urgency following recent earthquakes on the San Jacinto Fault and a swarm of others near and beneath the Salton Sea.

Millions of Californians are stepping up their awareness and readiness for a major earthquake. Emergency responders are reviewing their procedures and communications protocols.

Earthquakes are an inevitable part of California’s future. Californians are reminded that getting prepped up now can ensure that disasters do not become catastrophes.

Thursday's ShakeOut came in response to a simulated M7.8 earthquake on the Southern San Andreas Fault which bisects the Inland Empire. About 10 million people participated in the 2 minute drill.

All 33 San Bernardino County school districts signed up to take part in the annual Great ShakeOut.
