Recycler hit with fine, probation RANCHO CUCAMONGA – (INT) - One of California’s largest recyclers, RePlanet LLC, has been found guilty in connection with the death of one of their employees.
Under a plea agreement in San Bernardino Superior Court, RePlanet will be on probation for three years, and will pay $500,000.00 in restitution for the victim's family plus a $21,000 fine. A criminal complaint alleged that the company willfully violated worker safety rules which caused the death of 61-year-old Salvador Garcia of Rialto. A truck driver for RePlanet, Garcia was crushed by a 35,000-pound earth mover at the company's Rancho Cucamonga facility. The plea agreement was reached after rePlanet overhauled its site and work practices, said Deputy District Attorney Douglas Poston. Story Date: October 24, 2016
