FONTANA – (INT) – A suspected car thief has been killed and his female passenger injured at the climax to a police chase Thursday.

According to police, officers tried to stop the car. But, the driver took off reaching speeds of 70 miles an hour.

Minutes later, the suspect lost control near Arrow Highway and Tokay Avenue and crashed into a tree.

The driver died and his passenger was seriously injured. Their identities were not immediately known.

A Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) from Ontario was brought in to detail the incident.
