Cubs dispose of the Dodgers, open World Series Tuesday against Indians CHICAGO – (INT) – For the longest-suffering Cubs fans, it was now or never. And, reality is now.
Elderly Cubs fans, in the late innings of their lives, are starting to believe what was once unthinkable: their Lovable Losers playing in their first World Series since 1945. The Cubs came home to Wrigley Field with a 3-2 lead on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS. They’re celebrating a victory that won’t soon be forgotten. Chicago held the Dodgers scoreless in Saturday’s sixth game with a 5-0 shutout. The Cubs will play for baseball's top prize when the World Series opens Tuesday in Cleveland.
