Arson, murder-suicide figure in deadly fire
TEMECULA – (INT) – Investigators have concluded that an August fire at a residential care facility for adults with developmental disabilities where five men died was arson and that four of the victims had been shot.

Sheriff’s detectives broke their silence Monday saying the tragic incident was a murder-suicide. But, they did not identify a suspect or if there was more than one who may have carried out the crime.

The dead were previously identified as the caretaker, James Jennex, age 50, and the four residents as Milford Battison, 37; Richard Driskill, 35; Miguel Ferreyra, 31, and Jared Prudhomme, age 26.

Bodies of all five men were found August 29th amid the ruins of the facility on Cruz Way in Temcula’s Wine Country.

Investigators did not elaborate on the evidence that led to their conclusion and did not say if any firearms were recovered. There was no mention of any outstanding suspects. But, arson detectives urged anyone with information related to this ongoing investigation to step forward.

The facility was heavily damaged by the fire. It was a state-licensed, full-time residential care facility.
