Prosecutor seeks execution of accused police killer
PALM SPRINGS – (INT) – The legal criteria has been met and Riverside County prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty against the accused killer of two police officers.

District Attorney Mike Hestrin said Wednesday that that John Felix, a self-admitted and known gang member, ambushed the officers who responded to a family disturbance at his home October 8th. Another officer was wounded before Felix gave-up 12-hours later.

Felix is a convicted felon with a dislike for police. He was not to have owned or possessed any firearm.

“This was a heinous crime involving the murders of two police officers who were gunned down simply because they were police officers,” Hestrin said.

Felix has been arraigned and is to undergo a psychological exam before his next scheduled court appearance November 10th.
