RTA unveils bus with upgraded engine
RIVERSIDE--A new generation of cleaner-running engines for Riverside Transit Agency buses made its debut Monday.

The new Doosan engine has the capacity of running on a blend of hydrogen and CNG.

Doosan’s Kwangsup Hwang is general manager of the engine division. He says the blend capacity will help fleets meet 2010 engine emissions requirements.

“Currently our tests are showing that what’s coming out of the engine is cleaner than the ambient air. If you were to drive that engine on a smoggy day in San Bernardino or Riverside it can actually clean up the air,” he said.

The biggest hurdle for full implementation is the need for a hydrogen station in Riverside.
