Election certified, voter turnout exceeds 75%
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A final look at Campaign 2016 found San Bernardino County voters decisive in their preferences. There were few close contests and virtually no surprises.

Incumbents kept their jobs and the challengers were sent packing.

This election year motivated most voters. While much attention was focused on the race for the White House, local issues drew attention too.

In the final, certified election results issued Tuesday, Hillary Clinton was the clear-cut choice as she rolled up nearly 53 percent of the county vote compared to Donald Trump’s 42 percent. In Riverside County, the split was 50 percent for Mrs. Clinton to Trump's 45 percent.

Also notable was the fact that 57 percent of those submitting a ballot did so by mail.

Total voter turnout in San Bernardino County rose to nearly 76 percent of all registered voters. In Riverside County, the turnout was just over 75 percent, according to Wednesday's election certification.
