Pot growers urge dialog on government-sanctioned cannabis grows
RIVERSIDE – (INT) - An industry group of nearly 30 cannabis and hemp farmers appeared before the Riverside County Board of Supervisors Tuesday.

Members of the Southern California Responsible Growers Council are pushing for land-use and public-policy discussions in the wake of voter-approved Proposition 64 in November that makes recreational use of small amounts of marijuana legal.

Riverside land owner Micah Anderson wants to begin local and state-sanctioned cannabis grows in Riverside County. “We’re not dispensaries,” he said. The cannabis dispensaries are very well represented in the public arena, but we need to bring the farmers’ voices to the table so we can be heard as well,” said Anderson.

Anderson urged the ‘supes’ to study the issue of marijuana legalization in order to craft zoning regulations.

Currently, commercial marijuana cultivation, product manufacturing and sales are banned in Riverside County.
