Potential school violence averted, students arrested
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Police and school officials are being praised for heading off an alleged plot for violence at Martin Luther King High School.

Two 15-year-old freshman students are being held at juvenile hall.

According to police, an anonymous trip on Monday indicated there may have been a weapon on campus. The students were immediately detained.

Searches of their homes corroborated their plans to carry out a future attack at the school.

They will be charged with possession of knives and ammunition on campus plus conspiracy to commit murder.

The school district activated the school site safety team to include administration, psychologists, counselors, key teachers and the site School Resource Officer to assess the threat.

There was no immediate threat to the continued safety of students and parents.
