Terror attack grant money may be redirected SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) – San Bernardino County is asking for assistance from the state and federal authorities to reallocate more than $1 million of a $4 million federal anti-terrorism grant currently earmarked to pay or reimburse the County for costs incurred as a result of the Dec. 2015 terrorist attack.
It’s designed to fund the costs of medical treatment not covered by workers' compensation for the survivors of the attack. If approved, the reallocation would nearly double the $1.6 million already set aside in the grant for the survivors. "The County has so far spent more than $20 million responding to and recovering from this tragedy never expecting to be reimbursed beyond first responder costs," said Board of Supervisors Chairman Robert Lovingood. He added that the money could be set aside to directly assist the survivors in their recovery. There are about 54 county employees with active worker's compensation cases stemming from the attack.
