Storms bring safety advisories
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Officials are underscoring safety and preparedness advisories during the current siege of storms.

Mountain travel is not recommended under an extended winter storm warning. Mud and debris flows are likely in the areas burned in recent wildfires especially around the Blue Cut blaze in Cajon Pass.

Elsewhere, flash flooding, falling trees and poor visibility are included in the weather mix.

Locally, the City of Moreno Valley is offering free sandbags and loose sand to help residents prevent damage from possible flooding due to the anticipated heavy rain.

Empty sandbags and loose sand will be available at these locations:

· City Yard Main Office, 25180 Santiago Drive in Moreno Valley, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 4 p.m.

· Sunnymead Ranch Fire Station No. 48, located at the southwest corner of Sunnymead Ranch Parkway and Village Road in Moreno Valley

· Sunnymead Fire Station No. 2, located at Hemlock Avenue west of Perris Boulevard

Chino Valley residents can find sandbags and sand are available at the following fire stations:

· · Fire Station 61—5078 Schaefer Avenue, Chino
· · Fire Station 62—5551 Butterfield Road, Chino Hills
· · Fire Station 63—7550 Kimball Avenue, Chino
· · Fire Station 64—16231 Canon Lane, Chino Hills.
· · Fire Station 67—5980 Riverside Drive, Chino

Riverside County officials advise residents to:

- Survey your property and remove excess debris blocking natural streams, drainage systems.

- Place sandbags in areas that are prone to flooding to prevent water from entering your home or business. There are several locations offering free sandbags available for the public. For a list of sandbag distribution locations, visit RivCoReady.org or call 211.

- Register your cell and alternate contact information on the County’s Early Warning Notification System.
